John McLaren

John McLaren is a Managing Partner of Future Benefits Management Inc.

At Future Benefits, John works with corporations in the areas of group benefits and retirement plans as well as integrated disability solutions. John was the first person to implement a group guaranteed standard issue Critical Illness plan in Canada and was an early advocate of integrated income replacement plans for corporations. John specializes in the design, pricing and implementation of integrated income replacement plans. These plans help to “offload” the disproportionate risk that key executives represent to their organizations during disability. John also focuses on plan governance for Capital Accumulation Plans, specifically Group Pension Plans, Group Registered Retirement Savings Plans and Deferred Profit Sharing Plans.

Before joining Future Benefits, John worked for 16 years with a major Canadian life insurance company. There he earned the designations of Certified Financial Planner, Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant.

John frequently speaks to business groups including The Financial Advisors Association of Canada, Advocis and has been interviewed for articles in The Globe and Mail. He is a member of the Christian Education committee of his church and supports the environment through Earthroots, a non-profit, grassroots environmental organization.
